Week 18 Photos - Buda

"This week I celebrated my 4 months mark as a missionary!!!! Can you even believe that??? I can't!!! Time is going so so fast, and it is a little too fast most of the time. We had a Palacsinta (Krepes) party to celebrate. :)))"

Here are pictures of some interesting things that happened this week:

It rains a lot in Budapest and this is Behunin Nővér,
Fresh Nővér, and Falslev Nővér after they got
caught in a rain storm!
The "greenies" eating food that they "made all alone!"
Fresh Nővér asked for a couple of cookie recipes this week!

They also have something in Budapest called "Trash Day"! It is where "literally everyone takes their old junk and they put it in piles on the side of the road. So in front of our apartment, right outside of the door, there was a giant pile of junk." Every district in Budapest has a "Trash Day" twice a year where people get rid of the things they don't want on the sidewalk.

"We went and did some sight seeing today, which was great. I love seeing this beautiful city and just being a tourist for a little while!"

This is Behunin Nővér, Falslev Nővér,
and
Fresh Nővér at Hősök tere, or Heroes
Square. The tall tower behind them is
called the Millennium Memorial and was
completed in 1900.
The figure on top of the memorial is the Angel
Gabriel who has the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen,
the first king of Hungary, in his right hand.
This is Castle Vajdahunyad, located in City Park
which is the largest park in Budapest. It was
built for the millennial celebrations of 1986.
The castle is unusual as it was built with a variety
of architectural styles. If you view it from one
side you may think the structure is Gothic, but
from another side it looks like a Baroque building.
Falslev Nővér, Fresh Nővér, and Behunin Nővér, are
still in City Park in front of the
Széchenyi Medicinal
Bath. Budapest abounds with natural springs and has
about 50 medicinal spas, baths, and public pools.
The only difference between this picture and the one
above is the two elders in the background. See below for
more information ...

They are Judd Elder and Hansen Elder who are also serving in Buda along with the three sisters. "We are having so much success here and have some really great investigators!!! I love it. We also have so much fun together and are just like a big family. We are really good friends with the Elders and they are always looking out for Falslev Nővér and I when Behunin Nővér leaves [to visit other sisters in the mission in her leadership role]."

Fresh Nővér with Panni. "I love her!!! She is so cool!
She really likes my style and tells me that I have a sense
of fashion! She knows how to compliment me right!"
Panni with all of the "Buda Sisters"!
The sisters took a 45 minute bus ride and walked
on a dirt road to get to meet István's family. This is
Fresh Nővér with his sister Roxane.
"István has a little sister, Roxane, and I love her!!!
She is really fun and so cute!"
Walking on the dirt road on the way home
from István's home.

"When we were coming home from Istváns house last night, we took a bus that drove by the Duna and the Parliment, and it was so so beautiful. I am just so happy to be here, even though it is hard sometimes. I can't believe this is my life, but I am glad that it is :))) I love being a missionary!"

Week 17 Photos - Buda

Some of the sights of Budapest last week on p-day ...

Fresh Nővér looking across the Danube River from
the Buda side of Budapest to the Hungarian Parliament
Building on the Pest side.
Another view of the Parliament Building, which is
currently the largest building in Hungary and was
completed in 1904.
The bronze statue in the middle is to honor Stephen 1
or Saint Stephen, the first king of Hungary, and the
Fisherman's Bastion in the background. The Fisherman's
Bastion is on the Buda side of the river and is where
the two previous photographs were taken from.
This is the great towers of the Fisherman's
Bastion. The two men on the right are Elder
Judd and his companion.
Fresh Nővér is ready to take on the dragon
carved into the stone at the Fisherman's Bastion.
The roof of Saint Matthias Church is covered
with a beautiful and colorful mosaic.  The
Fisherman's Bastion, Saint Matthias Church,
and the Buda Castle are all on what is called
"Castle Hill".
Hardy Nővér and Fresh Nővér ... "I want to serve with her,
but she dies [goes home] soon so I probably won't get to!"
Judd Elder is the one making faces in the background.
Clawson Nővér and Fresh Nővér ... "We want to serve to-
gether! She was in my MTC group, but in the other district."
One last view of the Danube River and the Parliament
Building. "I can't believe I live here! It is so pretty!"

"Make New Friends and Keep the Old" ...

Barbs, a member of the Buda Ward, and Fresh Nővér.
Notice the "Fresh" on Barbs' t-shirt!!!
Looking for new contacts ...
This guy seems to be friendly!!!
Falslev Nővér and Fresh Nővér being a little
crazy! They love serving together and have
quite a bit of responsibility even though they
are "greenies" because Behunin Nővér is
often away taking care of the duties in her
"sisters leadership" position.
A reunion with Anderson Elder and Cox Elder,
the missionaries that Fresh Nővér served with in Miskloc.
Fresh Nővér is all smiles while posing in
a park in Buda!

Week 16 Photos - Buda

Transfer Day...
"Transfer day was soooooo good!!! I love being able to see everyone!!! I saw all my friends from the MTC and that was the best. When I saw my old comps, I cried like a baby and I don't know why. I just seriously love all of these people so much, it was just so good to see them and know that they are doing well!!!!"

The last picture of Rupard Nővér. Fresh Nővér, and Mackay
Nővér, who served together in Miskloc, on transfer day.
Rupard Nővér and Fresh Nővér with
“matching comp items … I love this girl
and will miss her so much!" Rupard Nővér
is staying in Miskloc and Fresh Nővér
 is going to Buda.

First Week in Buda ...
"The Buda ward is really BIG! I was a little bit overwhelmed because there are so many new people and I have no idea who they are. Everyone is really nice though, and I am sure in no time I will be best friends with them all and then hate to leave them when the time comes. I really do miss Miskolc though, I just love the people there and don't know if I will ever get to see them again!! ... There is a big YSA group here too and they are really helpful and come to lessons with us all the time!!! Also there are 12 missionaries just in Buda because we have the APs and Secretaries, and then a bunch in Pest and Kispest so we have really fun times! ... Everything is good here in Buda and I am really happy!!!"

Fresh Nővér studying the Budapest
subway routes. "Buda is great, the city
is huge and I haven't really seen much
of it yet."
This is the kitchen in the Buda
apartment. It is really nice ... "no
roughing it here in Buda!"
This is the bedroom in the Buda
apartment. "I have a bed now and
it is really comfortable!"
The Buda apartment is "directly across from
the Branch House, which is also the mission
home!" This is the living room.
Fresh Nővér and Falslev Nővér (one
of her companions from the MTC and
new companion in  Buda) behind the
gate that protects their front door.

House. The Branch
House is another
name for the church
building where
the Buda Ward meets.

Week 15 Photos - Miskolc

This is Fresh Nővér and Kamilla. "We did some gardening
for a family in our ward and that was really fun. They fed
us dinner afterward and we had homemade pizza, and
it was so so good!!! ... We had FHE with them too!!! They

were the cutest little family!!" The sisters were given
flowers when they left!
These are the students in one of the English classes that
Fresh Nővér, Rupard Nővér, and Mackay Nővér teach.
The missionaries serving in Miskolc took half of their
p-day on Saturday so they could go to a professional
Hungarian soccer game with some members of the branch.
They cheered for the Diósgyőri VTK, the home team of
Miskolc. Fresh Nővér said : "It was pretty crazy!!!
I am glad I got to go and experience it, but I think
I am also glad I didn't understand Hungarian very well,
because people were really really into the game!"
After the game they went to the members'
home and had a Bar-B-Que Hungarian style,
called Szalonna Napsutés, or Bacon
Bar-B-Que.
"There are big chunks of bacon fat that are heated
over the fire and then spread on bread. You put
some onions or other vegetables on top of it!!!"
This has been Fresh Nővér's last week in Miskloc as she
found out this morning that she is being transferred
tomorrow. "
I am going to be serving in... Buda!!!! So
I am back in the BIG city!!! I am really really excited to
get to serve there. "
This is the "threesome" with some of the sisters in the
Miskloc Branch.
Rupard Nővér will be staying in Miskloc
and
Mackay Nővér is going to open up a new area.
